Of how yearnings become essays

The present paper aims to analyze a small part of Paulo Leminski’s essay production. Leminski, a polymath character, acted in several fronts, having written poems, novels, short stories, among other genres, as well as operating in various branches of culture, such as visual production. Regarding the essay work, he wrote for great press, worked in alternative publications and released books. In this article, some texts will be highlighted. Some republished texts as well as specially made for the launch of his first book of essays, Anseios crípticos: anseios teóricos: peripécias de um investigador do sentido no torvelinho das formas e ideias, from 1986, by Criar Edições, from Curitiba. The analyzed essays are related to recurring themes in this author’s poetics. It’s intended, therefore, to realize how the “theoretical-critical” manifestations of this writer come in line with his poetic activity.
