Considerations on the concept of power in the thought of Simone Weil and Hannah Arendt

This article analyzes the concept of power in the thought of Simone Weil and Hannah Arendt. We understand, therefore, that for Simone Weil, freedom is achieved not through power, but through obedience to the order present in the world (cosmos), under the rule of good. And, for Hannah Arendt, freedom is action, the exercise of power, and has a character of indeterminacy, marked by the human capacity to begin and preserve the world. However, for both thinkers, political action is characterized by freedom itself.
