The Palimpsest of Aristarchus. Considerations about plagiarism,originality and information in brazilian historical musicology

Abstract

Starting from a case of accusation of plagiarism in the field of brazilian historical musicology, this paper analyzes the articles involved in the episode according to typologies of plagiarism and intertextuality practices studied by several authors, approaching questions related to originality and scientific discovery and discussing the role of information science for democratization of access to information and to primary sources for research.
