Editorial: reflections on artificial intelligence and scientific publishing.

Abstract

The editing and management of scientific journals is faced with great challenges and possibilities. The automation of repetitive tasks and the ability of machines to learn and perform increasingly complex functions have the potential to impact processes such as: spell checking, translation, plagiarism checking, data processing and structuring, creation of organizational charts and illustrative images of methodological processes, and even the writing of the scientific article in part,  or in its completeness. This whole scenario requires that the Scientific Journal Editor be in constant professional requalification. Understanding and instrumentalizing the Journal with plugins, software and platforms can be considered fundamental to accompany the numerous applications of AI in the development and revision of scientific communication texts.
