Pedagogic practices and emancipation: the right and wrong roads to citizenship in the Brazilian society

Abstract

This study analyzes pedagogic practices and the processes of emancipation and citizenship starting with their dependence on the cycle of information transfer, having as reference the teaching of library science. It looks at de models of information responsible for giving rise to the practices which build, conserve and transform social structures; pedagogic practices based on processes of socialization, emancipation and citizenship and schools of library science and entities which have the potential to legitimize skills and theoretical and practical competencies in the field of information. It points out and comments on some alternatives.
