Abstract

Attempts to demonstrate that it is necessary to consider the notion of information semiotically. It is argued that every piece of information to which we have access is necesariily mediated througt signs in three modes, which we call firstness, secondness, and thirdness; that is, the three categories of experience, according to C. S. Peirce. One conclusion is that, from a semiotic instance, information is constituted only upon its insertion in the process of semiosis by a subject.
