The quest for a library collection weeding policy at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais

Abstract

The objective of this study is to verify the existence of formal policies for acceptance of donations and weeding of bibliographic and nonbibliographic materials at UFMG. No formal library policies were found but, in practice, there are some criteria for acceptance of donations and for weeding. The respondents presented some valuable suggestions for the establishment of library policies at the University.
