DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AMONG THE GAME INDUSTRY’S WORKFORCE: AN INTEGRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW
UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA DA LITERATURA
Keywords:
Diversity, Game Developers, Video GamesAbstract
In today's society, the importance of representativity and the inclusion of groups considered minorities, both in the media and in the industry, is becoming increasingly evident. In the world of games, it could not be any different. Often, the focus tends to be on representation through the media; however, attention must also be given to the professionals working in this field. This article aims to deepen the understanding of diversity and the participation of minority groups in the gaming industry by analyzing various studies on the subject through an integrative literature review. A systematic search was conducted using the Integrated Research of the Univali Library. The results found were filtered, and 15 studies addressing diversity and inclusion among professionals in the gaming field were examined through an integrative literature review. Finally, the results found in this analysis were synthesized and discussed, highlighting the absence of studies addressing the topic of people with disabilities or neurodiverse individuals, a possible scarcity of academic and/or scientific research on the subject, a lack of cohesion in research regarding the keywords used, and the vast range of topics that can be explored within this theme.
