“I PLAY BALL, RIDE MY BIKE AND PLAY WITH MY FRIENDS”
THE RECREATION OF CHILDREN FORM DE JARDIM ALEGRE ’S TOWN SQUARE
Abstract
Recreation is a dimension of human life and one way it manifest itself is by means of games and child’s play, a form of language present throughout childhood. The goal of this research is to discuss some features of recreation and how they can be assured, such as the rights of children and teenagers living in Jardim Alegre-PR. We carried out a qualitative study containing interviews with children concerning whatever recreation they experience, the games they play and what expectations they have in regards to recreation. We concluded that the interviewed children withhold unmeasurable expectations as to their recreation, they enjoy the public site they play in, but long for quality public locations that live up to their needs and who offer recreation equipment, translating into an urgent demand for children’s social participation when debating and deciding about the town’s recreation agenda.
