LEISURE IN THE CONTEXT OF INITIAL FORMATION IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand how a Physical Education Degree course has approached leisure in teacher education. The theoretical framework that underlies this investigation is based on authors such as Marcellino (2007), Gomes (1998, 2004), Isayama (2002, 2010), among others. The research is field-oriented and guided by a qualitative approach, with subjects by professors who work in that course. As a data collection instrument, semi-structured interviews and data were analyzed using the content analysis method, proposed by Bardin (2011). The results show that the perception of leisure in the curriculum by the teachers is that there are specific disciplines that deal with the subject, therefore, leisure is contemplated, however, there is not yet a proper valuation of this knowledge. And although there is difficulty in establishing the relationship between leisure and education, which makes it difficult to apply it within the school. It is concluded that the formative discussion of leisure should not be restricted to specific disciplines in this area, but it must permeate the other knowledge that make up the curriculum, enabling solid training and teaching performance.
