Abstract

The aim of this study was to understand the presence of capoeira in Belo Horizonte in the 1970s and 1980s. To understand the complex relationships between subject, subjectivity, senses and meanings in the capoeira adopted the historical cultural approach of Vigotski and the theory of subjectivity Fernando Rey. I defined the qualitative methodology and used a semi-structured interview with the Master Toninho Cavalieri, considered the pioneer of capoeira in Belo Horizonte city. Thus, I believe that this article will contribute to the expansion of knowledge about capoeira in Belo Horizonte.
