Keywords:

This article deals with the life and work of Joffre Dumazedier. It seeks to show its double face as educator and sociologist, man of action and researcher, at the moment when the centenary of his birth is celebrated. It seeks to show the author at the center of the ideas that guided his production and how they translated into a double product, organically articulated in four themes: it begins with the educator and creator of the method of mental training, passes to the leisure sociologist and then it pass to the socio-cultural sociologist, to finish with the educator, with the theme of self-formation. In this emphasis on the legacy that made him a reference in all these fields, it is sought to emphasize the essence of the ideas exposed in his books. It shows the main challenges he undertook and the innovations he introduced both in the fields he studied and in the educational action he developed. Additionally, it seeks to collect all of his works published in French and Portuguese.Downloads
