Abstract

This research aims to analyze the inaugural speech of the current Secretary of Education of São Paulo, based on theoretical Systemic Functional Linguistics, (HALLIDAY; MATHIESSEN, 2004; and its extension) and the evaluative system (MARTIN; ROSE, 2005), to verify the discursive construction that takes place through the Attitude category, specifically the resources belonging to the semantic fields of Affect Judgment and Appreciation, as well as their subcategories. The main objective is thus to identify the attitude present in the discursive positioning of the producer of the text in relation to interlocutors, in view of the positive evaluations and proposals for the future.
