This paper is a review of literature aimed at analyzing material published by nurses about caretakers of patients on heart transplant waiting lists. There were significant developments in science and technology in Brazil between 1986 and 2005, which was the selected study period. We attempted to classify publications to identify trends in nursing work in this area. The authors found that studies on this theme were incipient, but also foresaw effective action of nursing professionals in defining propositions for family care and caretakers of patients on heart transplant waiting lists.Downloads
