The performance of the nurse in the psychosocial care centers under a psychosocial approach

This descriptive and analytical qualitative study examines the nurses' performance in a typical work day in the Psychosocial Care Centers (in Portuguese CAPS) and its relationship with the psychosocial model.The research instrument used was structured interviews conducted on 15 nurses working on the area covered by the Third Regional Health Care Department of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (3ª CRS/RS). The data collected refer to activities conducted by the Centre nurse in a psychiatric reform context and analyzed through a psychosocial method. The activities were divided into two themes: nursing work environment reassigned by a psychosocial approach- this topic included all activities related to the supervision and administering of drugs, personal hygiene care, administrative actions (reports, prescriptions, certificates), nursing staff training, observation of users not included in activities; - and nursing work environment based on psychosocial approach - this topic comprises patients' reception, individualized attention, therapeutic groups and workshops, assemblies, staff meetings, meetings with the coordinators of the mental health services, home visiting, patients' escorting to doctor's appointment, and participation in social events (parties, leisure walks and games).Downloads
