Abstract

This article is about the role of the workshops in the Centers for Psychosocial Care, to assure the implementation of the psychiatric reform guidelines. We discuss the role of recycling workshop of CAPS São Lourenço do Sul - Rio Grande do Sul, as therapeutic area and as a way to generate some income. We also discuss its relationship with the environment and its integration with the community considering the vision of the family. The methodology was based on a qualitative approach and included semi-structured interviews with 12 family members of the CAPS Santa Casa, and observation (150 hours) with daily record in the field. Considering the goals of the workshops and the literature on the subject, we have come to the following conclusions: as a therapeutic area, the recycling workshops have proven to be effective to welcome users in the service, contributing to the therapy. Regarding the community and the environment, we realize that recycling workshops have improved the relationship between the user and its social circle, and have emphasized the preservation of the environment. Finally, we realize that actions which aim to generate some income in the service are still shy and require a better support to provide a real inclusion of the user, and then lead to a psychosocial rehabilitation.
