Abstract

The current health politics in Brazil and the National Course Guidelines of the Health Education Courses point to the need of transformation of the practices and emphasize the actions of the promotion of health and disease prevention. In this context, the students of the University of Medicine of Marilia (FAMEMA), by means of the active teaching/learning method, act in scenarios that favor the development of such actions. The aim of this qualitative approach study has to analyze the perception of adolescents that participated in a health education group at a Family Health Unit (FHU) in the district of Padre Nobrega, in the municipal district of Marilia, in the state of Sao Paulo, where the theme of sexuality was approached and handicraft was performed. The collection of data was accomplished by interviews with ten adolescents. The data were analyzed through thematic modality, content analysis. Three thematic were selected: lack of opportunity to talk about sexuality; the group as a space of coexistence and learning; and the need of the continuity of the group. Although the understanding of sexuality be it a fundamental process in the formation of the individual, the health institutions and schools haven't efficient and systematically developed actions of health education. Believe it that those actions will only be incorporated in practice as health and education professionals, starting from his/her academic education, are qualified to develop them.
