The field of occupational therapy is established daily by collective or individual work by occupational therapists with their patients. This study intends to examine the establishing of occupational therapy based on its history and practice. The focus is on the theory and methods relating to the practice with mastectomized patients doing chemotherapy at the Dr. Hélio Angotti Hospital. The objective is not to quote historical facts, but to show, through the history of occupational therapy and hospital experience, what the practice is like.Downloads
