For a long time it was believed that newborn babies, both premature and at term, were unable to feel pain. However, recent studies show that the newborn are capable of feeling and expressing pain. In spite of this, it can be seen that pain at this age is not widely treated, possibly through a lack of knowledge. In this work we intend to study aspects of neonate pain in intensive care, identifying methods for prevention, pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of pain in the newborn and to contribute to draw up a pain protocol in neonatal intensive care, to be used by the nursing team and other health workers.Downloads
