Abstract

This is descriptive research with the objective of describing the profile of students graduating from the Carlos Chagas School of Nursing from 1933 to 1950. The primary sources came from the Registrar's Office and the School Memoirs Center of the School of Nursing of the UFMG. Out of a total 150 files which were examined, we found that the profile of alumni is that of a single woman, aged between 20 and 30 years old, qualified as a primary school teacher, who had no idea what was involved in nursing before starting the course. They are from the interior of the State of Minas Gerais and are Catholics.
