Study focused on the problem of crack addiction whose goal is to discern the health care practices that, according to drug dependents, contribute to their recovery. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study developed with seven crack users hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital, at the southern of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews, held in January 2008, in the institution itself, during the participants stay hospital. The results demonstrate the priority need for a more humane relationship with health professionals, for the family support and for the productive use of free time during hospitalization. The study reveals also some of the reasons that determine the search for professional help and the expectations in relation to the hospitalization process.Downloads
