Accidents in childhood in the home setting

Abstract

Domestic accidents have become a significant problem, interfering in the development of the child and family life. The objective of this study is to reflect, not only on accidents in the home setting that affect children in the first years of life, but also, to make possible educational actions used in the recognition of the risk factors and preventive aspects. Therefore, an exploratory study was carried out through a bibliographical survey. Analysis shows that death was the most serious consequence, and the resulting physical, psychological and social consequences demanded a lot of care and high costs.
