Abstract

Violence is a complex phenomenon that needs to be historically situated and understood. Through a social and anthroplogical approach, we reflect on different aspects of violence in contemporary culture to understand it in daily family life. We decided that to domesticate violence through rigid rules and codes of behavior does not appear to be the solution. The challenge is to channel, organize, integrate and combine it with other social and symbolic practices. It is necessary to relativize many aspects, such as the cultural aspects, bringing together the micro, macro, subjective and objective in order to understand it.
