Abstract

This article focuses on the main discourses circulating on the social construct of the HIV-AIDS epidemic in Brazil, as well as their repercussion on the inscription and reaffirmation of the process of stigmatization in the life of people with HIV and AIDS. This article presents "the discourse of Science", "the conservative discourse on sexuality" and "the discourse of the AIDS NGO's". The authors conclude that reflecting on the discourse universe in which this epidemic is found is essential to the carrying out of research to favor a deeper analysis of psychic and social responses of individuals faced with positive diagnosis for HIV, as well as the repercussions in their lives.
