From disaster to post-disaster policies

In this article, I review works in the field of disaster studies, a research expertise that remains unexplored in Brazil, especially in the domains of sociology and anthropology. Initially, I recompose the semantic field of this literature, highlighting the notion of disaster as a central category of analysis. Then, I analyze the idea of post-disaster, a notion presented by the authors as a moment that follows the main event. Finally, I introduce the original concept of post-disaster policy, encompassing all sorts of efforts engendered by different actors to restore life in the post-disaster. And I propose, as a research agenda for this concept, to understand its concrete implementation through a theoretical and methodological interaction with the studies of policies.
