JOÃO DINIZ is an architect, founder and director of JDAr Ltda., and lecturer, attached to the contemporary Brazilian architecture, who has built several works, published and awarded – some are already part of the landscape of Belo Horizonte, where he lives.
He uses to say that he found architecture through poetry and photography, which he practices since his adolescence, teaching him to investigate spaces, lights, framing, besides rhythm and the sense of objects and ideas.
From the 1990 decade on, he started to build his projects and to think and write about them and, in 2002 and 2010, he published his books “João Diniz Architectures” and “Steel Life: architectures in steel” respectively, presenting his projected and built architectures. At the same time, he took part in other editions, exhibitions and performances highlighting photography, poetry and music.
He created the Pterodata multimedia project dedicated to the productions in photography and video, sound compositions, recordings, collaborations and poetic performances with musicians, actors, speakers, visual artists, journalists and set designers.
These actions reasserted his bond to an authorial and interdisciplinary attitude encompassing the human side of the mundane, the urban and social assessment, and his interest in the collective composition looking for a peculiar critical and poetical mood.
