the 1st brain Week (SNC) of the Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco(UNIVASF) made possible for the academic community to interact with the population, which creates a path to the spreading of lines of work and research carried out on this theme to the population, in addition to providing students and the community with a knowledge sharing interface. Stroke is the second leading cause of death in the country, and one of the diseases which leaves the most sequels, often irreversible ones. thus, it is extremely important to society to be able to recognize the signs and protect themselves. During the event, a public approach was held at the Josefa Coelho Municipal Park, in Petrolina / PE. the project included actions and exhibition of banners. 60.41% of passers-by had no knowledge about the signs and symptoms of a brain stroke
