Abstract
Analysis of the relationship of the coexistence between the religiosity and the museality present in musealized Catholic sacred space and object with the aim of demystifying the overlapping, intermeshing and limitation of this connection to visitors. The problem has as its object of study is the exhibition room Church of the Third Order of Saint Francis of Penance that compose the exhibition set of the Sacred Franciscan Museum of Rio de Janeiro and its impact on the public, reflecting the process of musealization and museological communication of collections of Catholic sacred art in the context of the museum. It’s approached the differences between the concepts of musealization and museality, identifying and analysing the specific aspects of the expographic communication of the selected space. To support this study were used field, documentary and bibliographical research, with works and authors from the areas of Museology, History of Art, Science of Religion and Communication. The research in its finals considerations concludes that the identity perception and the desire to preserve the memory and religious, artistic and historical expressions of the Order are what constituted the exhibition of the museum institution.
