Abstract
This study aims to analyze the cultural interactions made possible by painters, gilders, sculptors and carvers, whether Portuguese or “Brazilian”. It was assumed that, alongside the revered artists, there was an infinity of other unknown or neglected names as important as the “great exponents”. It is believed that, already in the first half of the 18th century, the Portuguese artists who arrived here would have developed their art and carried out expressive work in the artistic field, notably in painting, sculpture and carving. Identifying, knowing and publicizing such names is the challenge facing the Social History of Art in contemporary times.
