A ornamentação pictórica da Capela do Rosário dos Homens Pretos de Tiradentes-MG

Abstract

The city of Tiradentes, in the state of Minas Gerais, located in the region of Campo das Vertentes, it’s owner an expressive set of painted ceilings and several ornamented elements with paintings of pretenses, like the marble ones, the textile and the trompe-l’oeils. Probably, it’s the city with the large number os painted ceiling of the state of Minas Gerais. These artworks have awakned the atention of many researcher’s theme and a with study emphasize the expressiveness of this artistic elements. At the present paper, we present the painted set that make the ornamentation of the local Capela de Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Homens Pretos, that recived the most significant painted of the region with false architecture, a quadrature structured build by the illusionism’s grammar. The nave’s ceiling, in caisson, was contemplated with paintings too, with the scenes from the Mysteries of the Rosary. The retables also received ornamentation and highlight the sides, the oldest of the chapel, painted with elements of the national brutesque. The paintings contributed to the ornamentation and together with the others components became this church one of the most beatiful and expressive of the city.
