Abstract

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how the perspective knowledge, present in the Treatise of Perspective (1715) by Father Inácio Vieira (1678-1739), was crossed by scientific knowledge, formed by the Society of Jesus and by the pedagogy of the Jesuits. Bearing this question in mind, it is interesting to locate the place of Inácio Vieira's text in Portuguese treatises in order to perceive its importance as a scientific-artistic text. It should also be noted that the manuscript is connected to the effervescence of the Portuguese 1800s, a rich period both from the point of view of art and science
