Abstract

The present text examines the lasting influence of Portuguese poetry on Brazilian art song, from the colonial period to the present day. Within this framework, it analyzes Desencontro (2023), na Art song for soprano and piano by Laís Lorrany Andrade, based on the sonnet Eu by Florbela Espanca. Through poetic and musical analysis, the study addresses formal, harmonic, and expressive aspects of the work, highlighting the concept of “disconnection” as a central element in the text–music relationship. The article aims to contribute to the dissemination of contemporary Brazilian vocal repertoire and to the understanding of the artistic dialogue between Portuguese poetry and Brazilian music.
