Abstract

Noite de São Paulo was a theatrical play written by Alfredo Mesquita (1907-1986) which included the participation of Dinorá de Carvalho (1895-1980) in the creation of its music. For this production, the composer composed 5 songs, all of them using texts by Guilherme de Almeida (1890-1969). In this article, the authors contextualized this set of songs, discussed the handwritten musical material found so far, analyzed the orchestration used by Dinorá de Carvalho in the songs for singer and orchestra created for Noite de São Paulo with a view to its edition, expanding the Brazilian repertoire for voice and orchestra.
