Algumas posições político-pedagógicas de Paulo Freire podem ser relacionadas (pelo menos
indiretamente) com os impulsos iniciais de trabalhos e reflexões críticas pós/de(s)coloniais que têm tido
uma presença lenta, mas crescente, nos campos da educação e da sociologia em Portugal. A obra deste
pedagogo ganhou, entre nós, uma significativa visibilidade social e académica, ainda que de forma
descontínua, a partir da Revolução dos Cravos. Freire teve uma presença relevante após as
independências dos países africanos colonizados por Portugal, deixando um legado para o pensamento
pós/de(s)colonial que vai muito além da sua posição crítica e fraturante em relação à língua portuguesa
(enquanto língua do colonizador).
