Guimarães Rosas fieldnotes written during his trip across the Sertão of Minas Gerais in 1952, are analyzed on this article. As an insider of the cowboys group (vaqueiros) and as a writer, he made visible the relationship between man and nature. Rhythms, languages, colors, horns, footprint, names are categories used by Guimarães Rosa to describe the singularity of each animal. This description reveals how the culture mediates the process of natures re-criation.
