The text presented is an evaluative review of an article submitted to the journal Educação em Revista, which adopts principles and practices of the Open Science movement, providing opportunities for open and dialogued evaluation between authors and evaluators. The analyzed work aims to examine the historical context of the implementation of Federal Institutes (IFs) and the careers of their teachers, specifically as teachers of Basic Technical and Technological Education. In this sense, this review seeks to dialogue with the authors, bringing elements that can broaden the critical view of the discussions discussed. At the end of the analysis, the need to expand discussions on the specificities of FIs becomes evident, so that they are recognized and valued in their particularities. In addition, knowing the challenges of the EBTT career, based on the experiences of the teachers themselves, can enable the construction of resistance strategies against the precariousness and intensification of the work to which they are subjected in the current career format.
