The objective of this research was to analyze the perception of 90 students of Academic Master of the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), coming from the poles Social Demand and Institutos Federais de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Goiás (IFGO) and Espírito Santo (IFES), about the process of production and submission of a scientific article, and capacitation them on the theme, so that they can continue their training and scientific practice. It was a quali-quantitative research, with the realization of Workshops for capacitation and use of questionnaires for students' perception. As a result of the capacitation, there was an average total gain of knowledge in the three poles in the value of 53.86%. Regarding the students' initial perception, the average was 23.06% for Social Demand, 36.40% for IFGO and 29.86% for IFES. As for the final perception, the average was 82.93% for Social Demand, 82.93% for IFGO and 84.13% for IFES. It was observed in value of 85.53% the initial incapacity presented by the students to promote the activities, and in 89.24% the final competence. The values found in this research reflect the ineffectiveness of the actions proposed by the institutions in the teaching of a research methodology that contemplates the theme, demonstrating that the subject is complex, and that better planning should be perpetrated in the sense of greater capacitation.
