This text searches for the reflections of the matrices present in the constitution of the Brazilian education historiography, debating them in the theory methodological field. Analyzing the production of Fernando Azevedo, particularly A Cultura Brasileira, the author focus, in an instigating way, the textual devices of sense production present in the work, giving an important contribution to the centralism comprehension concerned to azevediano thought in the configuration of the Brazilian education historiography.
