The present text aims to analyse the way in which teachers were represented visually (through photographs and illustrations) in the Revista do Professor (1934-1965), the informative publication of the CPP (Centro do Professorado Paulista), founded in 1930 and which still today represents some 110.000 teachers. The CPP was, for a significant period of time, the main teachers association in the state of São Paulo. Its image was linked to that of primary teachers who made up the largest section of the São Paulo teaching profession at the time of the periodicals inception. The aim of such an analysis is to examine the spaces in which teachers were given visibility in the periodical publisher by the teaching profession and to identify the nature of the images in which teachers are portrayed in the Revista do Professor. The analysis in based on the works of Roland Barthes and Walter Benjamin on photography.
