O RECONHECIMENTO E VALORIZAÇÃO DO COLÉGIO JOSÉ ZANCHETTI COMO PATRIMÔNIO CULTURAL DE ABDON BATISTA - SANTA CATARINA

Abstract

The present work problematizes the valorization of vernacular architecture as a cultural heritage through the case study of the former José Zanchetti College located in the municipality os Abdon Batista, in the Southern plateau of the state of Santa Catarina. The building of the José Zanchetti College, built in wood in 1961 by descendants of italian immigrants who colonized the region, it was the first public school in the municipality and had the function of serving the urban and rural community. The structure of the college is original, but over the years it has undergone some internal modifications, which are considered reversible, not constituting a mischaracterization. However, since the transfer of the school in 2011, the building has been unused, with precarious preservation and without any protective measurces, since it is not recognized as a municipal cultural heritage precisely because it is a vernacular and most recente example of immigration architecture. Thus, the research intends to identify and atribute the cultural values that justify the recognition of the José Zanchetti College as cultural heritage of Abdon Batista and from them reflect on guidelines for a possible rehabilitation Project Building that enhances its preservation and valorization as a local cultural heritage.
