This paper proposes the hypothesis that the daily and seasonal cycles of the atmospheric pressure can be induced from the locally observed altitude, revealed from the identification of periodic fluctuations in the measured altitude above the sea level. Surprising about the smoothed curve of fluctuations in altitude resembles the daily cycle of observed atmospheric pressure, only lagged for about an hour. It is suggested that the site does not remain fixed, but instead drift, both in the vertical and in the meridian directions, subjected to the gravitational interactions of the Earth-Sun-Moon system
