A vector with one of the greatest urban expansion in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte (RMBH) is the so-called Vetor Norte. In this territory, famous for its mining areas, luxury houses and the Tancredo Neves International Airport, there is one of greatest socioenvironmental vulnerability areas in the state of Minas Gerais: the Karst of Lagoa Santa. Although there are devices such as conservation units in the territory and distinct plannings and legislation, the anthropic impacts remain significant both on human actors (especially residents) and on non-human actors (ecosystems, relief, soil, hydrography). The goal of this article is to point out and understand the overlaps that exist among different laws and instruments of urban planning in the territory of the Environmental Protection Area Karst of Lagoa Santa, from a brief cartography of the territory. Thus, we aim to show that despite the proven socio environmental vulnerability of Karst de Lagoa Santa, in the Vetor Norte of the RMBH, the disarticulation between municipal, metropolitan and other urban planning legislation for the region accentuates the challenges of preserving vulnerable areas.
