Abstract

The present work discusses the concepts of “animal-devenir” and “blocks of sensations”, put forward by philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, correlating them with the artistic productions of the “Cruelty Theatre”, by Antonin Artaud, and also the performance art in contemporaneity, producing a stubborn body. These concepts are instruments of intensification to a practice that liberate the body from a dominating logic and take it to unknown, savage and impersonal places. Through those transversally relations, it’s possible to think the performance art and the “Cruelty Theatre” as
inventive practices that do not draw boundaries between mind and body, disorganize their primitive forms while emphasizing animal impulses that make the body contract and dilate. As we investigate “affects” and “percept”, the bodies can cross their own outlines; through the migration movement between man and animal, it is capable to expressing forces and unsaid sensations and go beyond the signs, to meet things in their provisory states, affirming life as its own productive potencyThe present work discusses the concepts of “animal-devenir” and “blocks of sensations”, put forward by philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, correlating them with the artistic productions of the “Cruelty Theatre”, by Antonin Artaud, and also the performance art in contemporaneity, producing a stubborn body.
