As lendas de além mar desvendam a presença de judeus lusitanos nos trópicos e de judeus brasileiros no continente europeu e africano. Por intermédio de lendas judaicas testemunhamos um fato indiscutível: para judeus e cristãos-novos ibéricos, as águas do Atlântico deixaram de ser um obstáculo intransponível, convertendo-se num lugar de reencontro com a tão amada liberdade. No mar, o judeu recuperou sua identidade, respondendo com convicção a dúvidas e incertezas. Este artigo analisa algumas lendas e mitos judaicos d'além mar no contexto da cultura luso-brasileira.
