Abstract

Regarding the impact caused by the encounter with his father’s past through the stories of Sholem Aleichem, this article aims to reflect on the effects of this event in the life of the renowned Israeli writer David Grossman. A silenced and unknown past for the boy born during the fervor of the early years of the State of Israel, narrated in a language that was once the greatest symbol of cultural expression for the Jews in Eastern Europe.
