This research is into the Family Health Strategy in the community of Macuco, in the town of Timóteo, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, involving poor families that are a constant target of public policies. It is a quantitative study and data were collected from the Basic Health Care Information System (SIAB), from January to August, 1999, and during the same months in 2005. The objective was to compare the results of basic health care during two periods - before and after the implementation of the Family Health Strategy in this community. We conclude that the Strategy has brought satisfactory results.Downloads
