Third party influence in practice of breast-feeding

This work aimed to identify the agents that influence the pratice of breast-feeding, as well as the content of the transmitted messages to breast-feeding mothers. Twenty two womem that were breast-feeding for the first time, and that had children aged between one and twelve months were interviewed. We utilized the technique of thematic analysis to analyse data, based on the content analysis of Bardin9. Results showed that the husband and the breast-feeding mother's mother had distinction, preseting the first as an stimulating agent and the mother as a reference model. Health practioner appears as na an element of incentive, detaining in issues of breast-feeding as a biologic process. Media has an important role, its approach was turned to the advantages of maternal milk to the child.Downloads
