Construction and validation of a protocol for perioperative nursing care for LATEX FREE patients

Upon admission to the Surgical Center, the professional must develop a care plan to minimize risks in surgical patients. Perioperative anaphylactic reactions are potentially life-threatening, especially in patients with latex hypersensitivity. The objective of this work is to build and carry out the validation process of a latex free protocol for operating and providing safe care in a standardized way. This is a methodological research, which was conducted in two cities in Pernambuco. Ten judges participated in the protocol validation process, who had a degree in nursing, among them were also nursing doctors, masters, specialists in the perioperative or surgical area, professionals with experience in the areas and professionals with methodological experience. As for the content validation process, it was established based on the I - IVC with a total sample of 0.99 for relevance and all protocol items, such as structure and presentation with 0.99, being evaluated as relevant by the judges and the S -IVC has an average of 0.97. It proved to be a valid and suitable device to be made available and used in the hospital perioperative period. It is expected that this study will make a valuable contribution to the latex-allergic population and health professionals regarding its management and care, bringing about a possible reduction in damage arising from this hypersensitivity.
