Abstract

Artists whose works comment on the ecological disasters that have occured in recent decades in Minas Gerais were invited to visually compose this thematic issue of Revista da UFMG on “Disasters.” Among these events and its consequences, the exploitation of iron ore at Serra do Curral in Belo Horizonte, the collapse of dams, such as the tragedy in Mariana (2013) and in Brumadinho (2019), in addition to the degradation of cultural heritage assets, such as Prophets by Aleijadinho in Congonhas do Campo can be cited.
