a discourse on music evolution relationships between the ways of thinking evolution in Biology and in Sociology

Proposition of a music evolution model comprising multiple moves such as transformation, admissibility, rupture, continuity, and reinstatement. Depicted in a non-linear manner, these moves begin with Josquin’s music, drawing back to Dufay, progressing to Monteverdi and to late 20th century composers, returning to Beethoven, and finally presenting a discussion on the compositional process. The study concludes that a music evolution model implies a non-cumulative, spiral-like process conductive to the notion of evolution in music, as exemplified in the text.
